True shape nesting
The Nesting feature is designed to reduce material waste material and make CNC machining more efficient. Large numbers of letters or shapes can be efficiently cut from one or multiple sheets of material. Costs can be further reduced by Insignia's ability to save the left over material for use on a future project.
The user has the power to control the shape and position of lead in/out moves to improve edge finish. ArtCAM Insignia also enables you to add ramping moves to reduce the load on the tool.
ArtCAM Insignia also contains options for 2D and 3D bridging tabs (break-out tabs) to hold your pieces in place as they are machined. The size and shape of your sheet material can be set within Insignia. Then all the selected vector shapes and letters can then be nested neatly and efficiently within your defined sheet.

The feature includes a number of options help you achieve the desired result, including the ability to allow items to be nested within one another and to keep grouped vectors (eg. words) intact. You are also able to nest multiple copies of the same design into a set material shape. Another important part of the feature, especially for those machining from expensive materials, is the option to save the vector which represents the left over material after nesting has taken place. This can be used as the nesting area for the next job that the material in suitable for.
